You mean copyrighted material that doesn’t have the author’s permission for distribution and copying is. File sharing has many legal uses, although it is predominantly used for illegal activates, I agree.

Actually filesharing itself isn't, it's the sharing of copyrighted material that's illegal... but then so is speeding, and plenty of us do that too. In both instances, there's clearly a void between the law, and what the majority think is reasonable. So, the RIAA / MPAA / whoever have two choices, they either try to wipe out the whole thing (as they sem to be trying to do atm), or they can try to bring their products and services in line with what people actually want.

Yeah sorry I meant illegal filesharing not filesharing in general!.. But a good post, and good point made.. That consumers seemed to be penalised, like loads of copy protection software on games, music etc.. While they're still all OVER priced.. ! ..I can definately relate to the points and see the arguments from both sides..

The record companies lose millions through file sharing, which sounds really bad.

What they dont seem to ever mention is that they are making billions!!

Hmm what is billions minus millions, oh yes! Still billions!

Although I have had my share (lol) of p2p, I do believe it is wrong. I have not done any mp3 file downloading/sharing for a long time now. Actually the main reason I gave up was because of the crap quality most mp3s were that I downloaded. Plus I like to have the CD, its nice to look at whilst listening to the music. Recently CDs have started to get cheaper, and hopefully that trend will continue.

I have my own media BT and P2P file server/downloader/seeder and The hard drive is a massive 800GB (4 x 200GB) raid 0 that have there own encryption on each of them with there own uniqe key... To decrypt a single non raided drive would take quite alot of time but in order for them to get my data theyed have to do each one! It simply wouldnt be worth it... Not to mention there each 128bit As for my views on P2P, I find it to be very sucky! BT is the way of the future and is much faster... P2P has too many viruses and spam for me to use...

    PS.

I dont share any illeagal content

128bit is nothing tbh, if they want your data they will have it, especially as the constitution is decidedly weak on the subject of encryption.

I thought it was snappy, very true, and to the point, mate.

Ignore these fun-makers, I thought it was a very deep comment.

'One small step for man, one giant leap for mankind.'

'If it's illegal you're breaking the law.'

They stand side-by-side, as the words that define who we are as a species.

I'd add that bluntly Macrovision's entire business is BASED upon breaking "CDs". There is nothing wrong with CDs, there is everything wrong with what Macrovision and others try to convince people are CDs, or "just as good as CDs".
