    Positive Trends.

It's a tough time, and likely to be that way for a while. Let's dodge the reasons why, and focus on the future for a minute. What are you looking forward to? What are you excited about for the next year or so? Are you planning any trips, if discounts are available? Going to take advantage of booking things in advance?

I'm planning a road trip this summer with a friend of mine, traveling up to Alaska. Fairly similar to my motorcycle trip a few years ago. Another friend moved to NYC last month, and I'm planning to go out to visit her. Kind of looking forward to that one. I'm not much of a city person, but there are a lot of attractions, like Liberty, that I'd like to see, and she has a hotel at an insane price next to Times Square.

With the ability to get out and enjoy the summer to some degree, what are you up to?

I'm hopeful about being able to work from home more often. I've quite enjoyed it and while go in occasionally is essential I don't miss it that much. My concern is that the CEO is talking about how important being office is for team work which I'd agreed with if the rest of my team wasn't all based in eastern europe! I'm hopeful I can at least get a few days a week at home agreed with management. I've seen lots more of my kids and wife + its less stressful not commuting.

As for holiday I've got a trip to Butlins booked (For non-brits that a site holdiay with rides, shows and swimming all on site) forend of August. Its perfect for my 3 and 6 year olds as I can actually relax for once. My concern is the site either won't be open/not fully open by august. I really need a holiday! Hoping we can book something for October school holidays if not but its not the same.

I'm looking forward to going to the pub. Not necessarily to get smashed, but just to have the option of a nice pub lunch in a nice beer garden.

Other than that, it's my Gran's 100th birthday at the end of July, hoping we'll be able to get up to the NE for that. Hotel booking hasn't been cancelled so hopefully we'll be able to go. The only worry is I won't be able to get my traditional Saturday morning sausage ciabata at Crusoe's in Tynemouth.

Given that imo we're by no means out of the woods, I'm mostly looking forward to the possibility my neighbour may electrocute himself with one of the many tools he's using to decimate his garden & build some unspecified excrescence and I *may* get 5 mins peace.

    Re: Positive Trends.

Holiday refund for this summer has given me the excuse to buy a pair of canoes with the money instead. We've hired a few times but looking forward to some regular family paddles on the river.

On a wider note the rumours of long overdue scrapping of the Sunday trading rules should make shopping at weekends a bit easier while allowing them to compete with online might also slowing Amazon's world domination a bit.

Hard to stay positive with everything's that's going on. I'm just hoping friends and family survive what's happening.

Well, hopefully coming back here will help to cheer you up! Maybe make a plan or find something to look forward to!

It was a beautiful day today. I went on a little bicycle ride, found a new pub for a nice spot of lunch and rode home. It was nice to have a little bit of normalcy!

I haven't had a holiday like ever so I would want to travel cities around europe, once all this ends. Considering how lockdown is going here it makes me think I won't have the chance to do so for some time.
