A man has blown up part of his house in France while trying to swat a fly.
The man, who is in his 80s, was about to tuck into his dinner when he became irritated by a fly buzzing around him.
He picked up an electric fly swatter and started targeting it - but a gas canister was leaking in his Dordogne home.
A reaction between the device and the gas caused an explosion, destroying the kitchen and partly damaging the roof of the home in Parcoul-Chenaud village.
According to local media, the unnamed man had a lucky escape, sustaining just a burn to the hand.
However, the fate of the fly is not known, news outlet Sud-Ouest notes.
The man has since checked into a local campsite while his family repair the house.
was his name unlucky Alf do you reckon?

I suppose it's quite difficult chasing a fly through a house that isn't fully inflated.

Talking of house problems, I knew a guy (friend of my fathers), that got an urgent call on his end-of-shift journey to attend (as a policeman) a "serious" fire, and noted that in was in the street where he lived. Only when he got there did he discover the bad news .... in was in the house where he lived. Ooops.

    The really bad news?

His home insurance expired a few days earlier, and he was going to renew it at the weekend, after payday.

    Really bug ooops.

Turned out to be a chip pan fire, in the dsys before thermostatically controlled fryers, where the "fryer" was just a large pan full of oil (or melted lard, 8r whatever).
A lesson learned from PeterB about dignity in adversity, so Peter, In Memorium, "Onwards and Upwards".
