hopefully more uptodate and not so damaging for the world.
Allowing condoms would be a good start.
No disrect to him, he tried, but really I dont think he was that good for the world.
    Still RIP.

US President George W Bush said the world had lost a champion of freedom.
What is it with this guy and freedom?

When reading the bbc news article I was wondering if "the spread of Aids" was in part due to his' conservative stand on... contraception"?

I think the spread of AIDS has somewhat more to do with the lack of understanding of transmission of AIDS than a sudden conversion of the whole of Africa to Catholocism...

The Catholic church denying that condoms prevented the transmission of aids can't have helped. My personal view is that I utterly respect his stand against totalitarianism and war etc. but I utterly despised his campaigning against abortion, contaception, and especially...homosexuality. Homophobes anger me SO MUCH.

So, does that mean, that as the Pope was a homophobe, all Catholics should be?

    Just interested.

Knox, you know you've just opened a can of worms the size of a large can, chocked full of worms, don't you?

In today’s PC obsessed society, we have a massive group of people who are duty bound to be homophobes. Given the complete hysteria and reaction to the first sniff of racism these days, how can this be allowed to continue?

Homophobia is no more acceptable than racism, surely?

When are the anti-Catholic wristbands due out, by the way? As well as 'Lets kick racism out of football' how about 'Lets kick homophobia out of the church'?

Or is organised prejudice acceptable when done under the cover of religion?

Comments from homosexuals and Catholics welcome. (Please state which you are )

Not been to bed yet Knox? Me either. Hard core. I don't think I can be bothered now actually, I'll sleep tonight. For a long, long time.

    Right, back to the debate:

The Pope is (was) a homophobe, and further more, the head of an organisation that promotes and enforces homophobia, and this is no more acceptable than the promotion and attmpeted enforcement of racist policies such as those of the BNP.

    Am I wrong?
