I'd say more like a 'licence' to be out in public, really.
As mentioned, some countries require vaccine passports and this is no different - You don't flash it to every native you pass when out on holiday, but you do have to show it to their passport office guys when you enter the country (and likely ours when you first get on the plane).

So too with this, HR would have to know the deets so they can take appropriate action, but your boss probably would not.
It's like the medical we have to pass - Your boss wouldn't know why you failed, but he would have to know that you did fail... and if it were drugs or summat, HR and maybe even the cops would have to know that part.

Just as in order to work with kids, you need to not be on the register, or to work in a financially exposed role, you need to pass a criminal records check, or to work in sensitive areas you need a vetting check, to work where lack of vaccination presents a risk, the employer needs to run a "vaccine register check"?

And no doubt, that'll need primary legislation.
I've tried really hard to stay out of this thread, but that bait is too juicy.

Such a system exists. It's called the National Immunisation Management Service (NIMS). It's the NHS run database of all UK vaccinations, setting up a checking service would be trivial and only cost a few million. Unless you ask Serco & Dido to do it in which case think of a number and double it.

If anyones interested the data protection impact assessment for NIMS is available so you can see what they can/can't do with the data within.

Only double it! You forgot to mention that incompetent useless muppet would also utterly, utterly screw it up, demonstrate that she has literally no idea how anything at all works and make a load of public statements confirming that fact.

    Re: Employers and COVID Vaccinations

By way of update, having sent the email to our HR guy, I received no reply nor did I hear anything further on the subject. A bit more passive than I'd like. A reply would have been nice, but there we go.
No trees were harmed in the creation of this message. However, many electrons were displaced and terribly inconvenienced.
