    Scuba Diving.

Any other divers? I just got back from a great trip out to Hawaii, and dove on a few different places out there. Thought you might enjoy this one:

Always been tempted but never got around to it.

Stupid of me really as a friend was a qualified instructor. Too late now. There's a lesson in that, somewhere.

Yeah. Love it but we've got out of the habit in recent years. Will probably need to do refresher courses now annoyingly despite remembering it all. Now we have a sprog we probably won't get chance to do a dive holiday for a good few years. Shame as it's a lot of fun

I love it but an inability to blow out my ears limits the depth I can go to.

    Re: Scuba Diving.

Tried it when we went to Turkey last time with a proper PADI diving school and not really my thing. Water getting into my mask round the nose and the instructor did nothing to help until he saw me freaking out and realised what was happening. Another issue is since then I have had tinnitus in my right ear.

I really wanted to do this as I love the ocean and marine life

    Re: Scuba Diving.

    Uploaded a couple more videos.

I'm going to be down in Miami next month, and hoping to be able to get down to the Keys and dive on a couple of wrecks down there. I really enjoy wreck diving, because ships are large machines. I'd like to do some more training and get to the point of being able to go inside and explore, but that might take a while.

The number of people with similar stories is so upsetting to hear. It seems "escorted trial dives" put more people off diving than they attract. I would always recommend just doing a pool course before you go on holiday if you think it is something you want to try. Then you have the basics nailed before you get in the sea, and can complete your qualification in a nice attractive location, while knowing how to vent your mask, control buoyancy and generally not freak out (though the first sea dive always involves some new nerves, even if you have done lots of pool time before then), plus you're not spending classroom time while on your holidays. Oh and turn up with your own mask and snorkle so you can be confident they fit. We own our own masks, snorkles, rash vests, boots and fins, dive knives. Everything else we rent. Much easier to fly that way. It's surprising how many places don't give you a dive knife when you rent a full kit, despite it being recommended safety equipment (if there's any risk of rope or seaweed etc)

If anyone is inspired and thinking of giving it a go don't forget to leave suitable time between diving and flying (before or after). Always allow min 24 hours on land between them, sometimes more.

This can sometimes be caused by a sinus infection. It can be worth seeing a doctor if it's really affecting you. I lost half a dive holiday to it once. Saw a doctor, course of meds, diving again within a few weeks all fine.

I got one of those 'Swim with sharks' things a few years back but that was in a giant pool thing so nowhere near as cool as going out in open water..
