I read this on ZDNet this morn,
The $3.4bn deal, expected to close by the end of the year, could signal the end of Fireworks, Freehand and GoLive

Its not all good...OK you can get Adobe Studio whatever they are going to call it...package with the ability to create anything ever that will become standard for professionals...but they will almost have a monopoly style thing.
What are they going to charge for the "super Package"?
It could be very expensive, yet people are going to be forced to buy it.

That will be good, as the Macromedia and Adobe design suites are both great programs.
But which ones will survive....?
Adobe have always aimed to take over the software market in many areas
i dont think its a good thing.
Not liking this one - the two companies always seemed dedicated to different things, with Macromedia focused on web media, with Adobe on document handling and print media.
Can't help thinking that this will harm the Macromedia suite of products.
I reckon they will combine things, as a couple of the programs are similar.
I *really* hope it's Dreamweaver that gets binned, its (IE based) layout engine is "£$"£$$ing awful, and GoLive CS2 has just been released with the stardards compliant Opera rendering engine...

this is not good for consumers. less competition.
also comments like "we have the opportunity to drive an industry-defining technology platform" dont inspire me with anything other than trepidation.

Great - the most used plugin (flash) joins with the worst plugin (acrobat reader)
Doesn't sound good to me
Now go away before I taunt you a second time.
