Intel has responded by announcing the replacement of its current CEO Craig Barrett with Paul Otellini, who is due to step-in next month.

Intel has also announced on Friday the release of a Dual-Core CPU (see: "Intel is Spinning Hyper-Threading into Dual-Core", in my analysis).

This was followed yesterday (Monday) by yet another announcement of the release of a minor new product, the WiMAX chip to be used in wireless networks.

All these announcements appear to be an effort on Intel's part to launch a concentrated PR campaign prior to the release of its quarterly financial report, due for today (Tuesday).

Note: According to my analysis, Intel's bleak outlook is totally independant of its financial report pertaining to the last quarter.

What a bollox article and lame inaccurate attention grabbing headline.

One major problem is that intel is soo much more than CPU's and chipsets....

Its a massively flawed arguement to look at intel just from the CPU and chipset it creates.

As TiG says Intel and a billion $ company. They don't just make processors.
And besides that, desktop processors are a drop in the ocean of any chip makers business. Server solutions are where the big bucks are.

Having a crappy desktop chip gives a maker a bad rep amongst enthusiast (look at IBM/Cyrix) but server oriendted chips are another thing completely.
