We did have backups but some were corrupted. We restored as much data as we possibly could. Unfortunatly as you know it wasnt quite enough data for many people. But its done now theres no more that can be done and moaning will not change anything. Suffice to say lessons have been learnt.

And Dirtydog, comparing users.hexus.net to ebay is not a wise comparison to make. Ebay take a % of each of your sales. WE DO NOT. Its a free and very useful service and its about time some people realised that. If you want us to spend £3k on an automated daily rotating tardis like tape backup device, then thats fine. We'll have to start charging the people that use the service. Would you be willing to pay?

I think we should not blame the 'management' for this issue.
After all, it is a free service and what do they get in return for all these.

I personally lost hundreds of very good feedbacks and they are essential and cruical for my full time business these days.
Also, i use the hexus links as part of my CV to share my marketing and sales skills to P&G etc to show how much value i can provide for my clients.

Suffice to that, I think the management is great to have restore the service.

But i will not hesistate to pay for this feedback service if necessary to maintain a high quality system.

I don't believe it would have cost hardly anything to back up even at three monthly intervals.

Lessons have been learned? You needed a disaster to learn the lesson that backups are a good idea? This is a computer hardware website and you don't backup regularly.. surely that is asking for trouble.

Perhaps you should have put a notice on the site "We don't backup the data so use this service at your own risk - you may be wasting your f**king time" - then I wouldn't mind so much.

So we don't pay for this service etc.. well if you can't afford to run the service properly, then don't do it!

Do it properly, or not at all.

Yep we have learn't lessons DirtyDog - I presume you would like us to remove your account since it isnt good enough for you?

We have a new scripting system in place and all backups are being run.

Please can you quit having a go at us people? we are working our socks off to get things sorted.

lankor - you are one of the only people who would have said that - and I thank you.

Fair enough, we got caught with our pants down and we have to bounce back - we are trying our best. I have been doing 18 hour days working on things.

We also have a heap of new changes coming in to place which should make up for all of this.

Thanks lankor, its nice to know that someone at least appreciates what we do for them for free.

What exactly do you know about cost dirtydog? Do you have any idea how much it costs to run HEXUS.net in its entirity? And you get access to it all for free.

If you did know what it cost, you wouldnt be bitching at HEXUS staff i recon. Makes me sad to see a post like yours.

    Indeed, that the problem.

I had them on my local machine, which got spanked due to a naff memory stick.

Trust me - it was a screw up and I am livid over all of this.

Can we please lay this to rest, I will personally do anything to help any of you.
