Is that "free iPod give away" site legitimate?

The one where youre supposed to get a free iPod if you refer 8 people to the site etc.

Anything that's too good to be true almost certainly is in my view, but wondered if anyone had any experiences or know anything about it?

[Edit: Right I have more info - it is sort of a scam. Basically you have to get all the people that you sign up to also sign up with several advertisers eg. date.com, sporting index, NTL etc etc. Only when they sign up to receive advertising (read junk mail, unsolicited calls etc) from a minimum number of advertising who will then their all their personal details to do whatever like with it, will there be an possiblility of any iPods. Personally, I wouldn't bother.]

I really would not bother mate, sounds like a classic prymaid scheme to me, avoid at all costs.

Seriously, any site offering something free always gets something in return, from either you or companies that they sell your info on to. I would avoid them as much as I avoid the unwanted offers we all get through e-mail!

i was talking to a mate yesterday and he said the bbc did some report on this. might be worth searching there! I want to say that the report said it worked - but cant remember!

Ive got the link to that loads of times. Never bothered it looks like too much of a scam, its impossible to see how they could make any money.

The US version has had great success over there, with the owners (think its graits or something, cant quite remember) making lots of money and lots of people getting their free flatscreens, ipods etc.

Its been on TV a few times, inc bbc news, watchdog(nothing negative) and a few others.

It is almost like a pyramid scheme only you dont lose anything I just did the free months dvd trial thing for mine, waiting for 4 more of my mates to do finish theirs before i get my iPod

It does work, its just a lot of hassle, i know lots of people who got there free ipods and flat screens etc.

sign up to one of their affiliates, complete the offer and then get 9 of your mates to do the same.

theres lots of offers, eg free dvd rentals for a month, gambling websites, credit cards etc

The website makes its money from the ppl who dont cancel the free trials, or who take up the credit cards etc - they get a 'bounty' from it
