Yummy scrummy Jaffa Cakes![]()
Biscuits of Cakes?
Discuss.
very similar to the age old animal cracker debate, I've always classed em as biscuits tbh as
1. You put em in a biscuit tin
and
2. You buy em from the same ailse as all the other biscuits rather than the bakery

If you're not living on the edge, you take up too much room
They're kind of spongey, which biscuits generally aren't.
Therefore, cakes.
Come to think of it, what at all is biscuit-like about them?
Honoop got the answer right. I saw that a while back. Jaffa cakes are just sponge with a bit o' orange stuff ontop covered in chocolate. Nothing biscuity about 'em I'm afraid.

I was going to post what Honoop did. They're definitely cakes - remove the orange and chocolate (which I do when bored) and there's an ickle bit of sponge cake there.
deffo more cake-like than biscuits... I think it's more convenience that they're in the biscuit section... they're wrapped like biscuits.....

The government classifies them as cakes, but is going to reclassify them as biscuits, because they have a longer expiry date than cakes, which means they can tax more, meaning more expensive jaffa cakes in future...why bother?![]()
