    What portable player?

My MP3/WMA cd player went wrong the other week, i took it back under warenty, and as they dont make them any more they offerd me 114 pounds to get a new one.

You can pick up the identical virsion to my old one, but in a difrence case for that much, but, do i chuck a little extra in and get someting better, and if i do what. Seen as i dont have too much money, and if i was going for a HD player i would want 40gb. With MP3 AND WMA playback.

    The replacement model :

Check that out.. Although the reserve hasn't been met, it' still cheap.

EDIT: It's even got a bunch of pre loaded albums.

These 5gb players really aren't worth the money- for ~£150 you get about a quarter of the space that £200 would get you!

In fact, if you're willing to import then you can get a 40gb Zen Touch for within 200 quid region.

If you're not particularly bothered about how cool your player looks, try the Zen Xtra- 30gb ones can go for as little as £140 if deals are on.

    (Sorry for blatant Creative bias)

Zen's are quite nice, I was playing with Jerms a while ago. It's wider than my iRiver, but thinner... Although it's white, and has an odd button layout.

I had exactly the same problem as you when i was choosing mine- I wasnt bothered about the Iriver Video options, but the radio tuner was a big plus. They're a bit more expensive, however, and you can buy a seperate (albeit overpriced) radio tuner for Zens on the Creative site.

Really it all comes down to what you'd be happy with- I say go ahead and spend the extra 20 if it's gonna give you something a bit better because you know that it's gonna last you long enough to be worth the extra cash, and it'll give you peace of mind that you got what you wanted.

I was looking into MP3 CD players, but decided to go with the iRiver as it was a lot easier more music on the go. Also, it's great as a hdd, especially for my large Photoshop files for graphics at college.
