Advice for getting new Flat mate

    Hi people,
My lease for my flat is up at the end of June and they want me to extend it for 12 months. My current flat mate is going to bail as he doesnt want to stay in this 'God forsaken city' for any longer.

So, i need advice on choosing a random stranger for a flat mate - best ways of going about it, interview questions, what to put on posters, what not to put on posters, etc.

I left uni about one and a half years ago to pursue a business opportunity with some mates, this is now on the back burner as we ran out of money so i am in full time work (**** work). I am thinking of getting a student in as i am no sure about the weird people from this area and students are generally safe. Anybody had any bad experiences i can try to avoid (along with the above advise)?

Make sure you try & pick someone who's not gonna be up partying all night if you have to be in work the next day, but also someone who wont care if you partake of a beverage or two on the weekend...just make sure you get some references too...maybe an ex landlord who can confirm that they pay their bills on time...might be worth having them out on a night with you and your mates before deciding?

yeah its worth remembering that while students aren't eligable for council tax, you'll only get a 25% reduction on the tax on your place, so you'll have to pay the other 25% yerself.

extra hot and female isnt a bad idea, preferably out of your league, so your always nice to her but never have a chance.

    Quite right.
If you can't stand the meat, get out of the kitchen.

And shame on Trippledence for saying what the rest of us were thinking!

Main advice i can say is - choose someone who likes the same music as you or at least music you can tolerate.

Dont choose a hot single female whose pants you want to get into - you undoubtedly wont and will just get frustrated living with her.

Go with the psycho path. Makes things much more interesting and it would be a cool story to tell.
