Just caught Tonight with Trevor McDonald which talked about this disturbing element of yob culture. For those who are unfamiliar with this, simply put it's just groups of youths (usually the bad man and wigga type of people) randomly slapping people in public and recording it on their camera phones for fun. I can't believe this is the first time I've heard of this as it has become such a widespread problem and the fact new incidents of this are becoming increasingly more violent. One case shown in the program was about this man who just fell asleep in a bus shelter and 2 youths randomly decided to set fire on him and recorded it on one of their phones. The victim now has permanent scars all over his body and is in constant pain, but thankfully the culprits were caught and sent to prison for 6 years. Personally I find this whole thing disgusting but I admit I would it funny if I saw it once as a bystander just because of the simple randomness of the act. But it's a different story when you're the victim because slapping hurts (lol) and if that happened to me I'd be furious too! I'm just wondering what's all your take on this, have you ever seen this or been an unfortunate victim of it. Also do you think the government's new stance on banning hoodys in certain public areas will help stamp out this kind of culture?
