*sigh* when will they learn, i mean come on "Half-life gets a score of 55% (F+)" he may as well go and do something usefull with his time like jump off a building, there is no point in slating a game because it doesn't agree with your beliefs!
I am wondering what score Black and White gets! Especially as you have to essentially "play god" in that game, oh i've just noticed the link, i'll have a look... "Black and White gets a 30% (F-)" what on earth is the point?
have a look at clive barkers undying then - he REALLY hated that one!
Quote:
CONCLUSION
Clive Barker's Undying is, by far, the worst game I have ever played. I can easily say that there are no redeeming qualities in this entire game. It is a game that I am certain Satan would approve of.
give him a break - after all, its all down to opinion.
Jumping off a building? thats just harsh.
I believe in god yet have no problem with games invloving murderous rampages and/or drugs escessive violence. There are some really good non violent games out there anyway so everyone should be happy
hahaha!
man, Undying is prolly the best single player fps i have ever played
UT2003 violent??
I dunno, he clearly hasn't been exposed to enough...
lol it is a bit sad, rather than rate the game on how good it is, he seems to rate it on how liitle violence, bad language and sexual content is in it.
hmm, not very open minded is it?Quote:

No point slating someone just because they don't agree with YOUR beliefs.
phew, some light shed on the subject. :)Quote:

i hate religion, its legalised mind control, and causes more problems than its worth. just look at northern ireland for a fine example
The only reason I said what I did (wanting to kickoff a debate aside :)) was because he is allowing religion control him completly, he MUST have SOME fun playing those games and yet he ignores the offhand way in which most games are put across and scores them, not as they were meant to be, but as he feels his religion would.
You cannot tell me that you would want someone like this to have any sort of power within the government etc, say hello to Hitler's Germany, my guess would be that everything would be moderated and discarded if it did not agree with his religion, regardless of what he thought of it.
I can lead a very healthy debate on religion but I don't feel this is the place to do it (some people get very angry in religous debates) so I am leaving this point alone now.
How the hell has religion saved more lives than its cost?
i'm a christian and i don't have a problem with most games, but some i find a liitle off putting, but only when they effect my life or give me a bad dream!:p for example i enjoyed max payne until it went all satanic and werid, also i used to play GT3 all the time, then i had a bad dream and knew it was related to that so i gave it up, common sence really, it's fact films and games can impact your thoughts and dreams...
Oh and also, I am wondering whether he should cast aside the review title and just tell people how suited the games are to christianity, because that is essentially all he is doing instead of taking the bits of the game into consideration such as graphics, plot, and more importantly ENJOYMENT.
fairpoint!Quote:

I have a feeling that may be a typo, GTA3 perhaps? not sure though.. maybe GT3 can affect us..
LMAO
how can doom1 get such a fair mark ( 41% ) in comparison...
i guess its cos ur killing the hell spawn... shouldnt we be forgiving ?
either way im not gonna try and argue with religion. Too many people lead their lives by it...
the worlds a lovely place now aint it /
ooooops yeah i ment Grand theft auto 3!
the story is! i was playing it and giving a few peeps a beat with the baseball bat... (as you do) i then went to sleep and had a really bad dream...
you cant directly relate a bad dream to a video game! it could've been caused by many other things, like the high level of violence in the bible, or something similar...
'Surely I come quickly' - Rev. 22:20 - i dunno, i saw it on a badge n it made me laugh...
i think i can tell what my dreams relate to punk!:p it was clear as day, they may not bother most people, but with me they do
i dream about mowing down old grannies with my easy listening turned up on the stereo, then hacking down some coppers with a chainsaw. then i wake up and there's this sticky patch on my bed sheet.
fair enough mate. I dreamt that i was on roller coaster that i couldnt get off ?? weirdQuote:

Loopy, sorry, didn't mean to come across so harsh.
I agree that it should perhaps be re-titled, and I think his main driving point is how suitable those games are from within a devout Christian context.
I have no problem with this, if his thoughts are that a particular game is not suitable for devout Christians then that's fair enough, he's providing a guide for those with similar beliefs.
I think that with religion in general in decline, and with it having far less influence on everyday life than it used too, that devotees of any religion would welcome a guide to what would be suitable for their tastes. It's just a highly specialised review aimed at a particular market.
As for the dreams, I think games CAN impact your dreams. Play enough of a game and it will bleed through into your subconcious, especially if you're stuck somewhere in the game. One of the missions in Mafia crept into one of my dreams once... and I've dreamt of actually paintballing in the Opposing Worlds level of UT.
After a particularly intense all day DM session on UT with Zak he went out to dinner and was straffing instead of walking and even trying to left'click to switch from knife to chopsticks... ask him about it! :D
true nuff, i've had the occasional game-related dream when i've just picked up a new game & played it solid for a few days!
also, "just popping down the shops" becomes slightly hazardous after a few hours of GTA3 / vice city cos u occasionally get the urge to ram ppl ut of the way...managed not to succumb to this one tho cos i'd get killed if i got home with the bonnet missing & said "GTA made me do it!!"
praps a bible-based RPG would be more suitable, eg. moses has to get the israelites across the desert from egypt to the promised land with various satan-based obstacles in his way.
energy provided in the form of manna capsules
various plagues & boils sent to harass u on your journey & cures for these found from prayer energy (<--nicked that idea from B&W)
bonus points for destroying golden calfs, burning bushes hidden en-route which offer up secrets....multiplayer pits u against an opponent who plays as the angry pharoah & his mob....i could go on!
anyone got the phone no. for eidos R&D :D
