Why i am starting to hate bt...

For god sake how can a company be like this...
Nearly every single one of us have upgraded to better broadbang now but they won't let me do it !!!!

    1) They change applying date from 1st April to 28th april
    2) Then there where systems were down for a week
    3) They gave me a date for activation: 15th may
    4) days came and went but no sign of 2mb yet
    5) i called them just now and they said that it will be upgraded on the first of JUNE!!!!

That is though after >40 minutes of waiting on the phone and more than £5 spent on calls !!!

I had the same trouble last month m8.I too got fobbed off all the time when I enquired about my upgrade. They still took £26.99 off me as well even tho I was still only on 512k.Even when I phoned up to cancel my bt internet I got put on hold for 25 mins before I hung up.I just rang Telewest and within 3 days I had a lovely new 2mb line.
I wouldn't go back to bt now. What a load of bollox they are.

I remember a friends pain with NTL. They switched his home phone number and internet number around without telling him. No one could work out why they got a modem tone when dialling his residential number. He got on the blower. Spent 2hrs on hold until his mobile battery ran out. He couldn't use the home phone cos that line was the modem remember! Went round to a friends and spent 4hrs! on the phone trying to get through. Took NTL 2 weeks to sort it. w*****s.

    Wow, thats really bad!

I have also just upgraded my internet connection, though I use Zen. I ordered the upgrade last friday evening, got confirmation on monday, then got another email today saying the upgrade will take place next tuesday. Just checked my connection now, and they have already upgraded it!!! Thats a week in advance! Now thats good service!

BT gave me my upgrade a couple of days early. Abmittedly the phonelines are awful, but the actual service isn't so bad, or maybe I was lucky

BT changed the date so they can charge fees when (a lot of) people don't have the money to pay on the day. Underhand business tactics

I'm getting the same BT disconnects. And when you call them they put you through the moronic "Turn off your router for 1 minute... Now reboot your computer... Now unplug your telephone..." As if you hadn't tried re-boots and powering down for yourself.
and after all that wasted time they decide it's all your fault anyway "It's your router..."
I wonder how widespread these BT disconnects are.....

lol - I typed this and had to wait 15 minutes for a connection to post it

Are you based in london KBeee? If so, you might want to check out UKOnline (goes via Easynet LLU) or maybe Bulldog (LLU themselves) and finally give your notice into BT...

    I'm betting on very widespread..

I also have the same problem, yet apparently the line is good enough to support 2meg.. (got upgraded last week)

Basically the old copper (and if you're really unlucky, aluminium..) lines are in such a bad state over the country, some of the engineers are surprised that many people can actually get a connection.

I had BT out at least ten times last year trying to find the problem with my line, generating a *huge* support file, one which the girl at the old ISP said was the biggest she'd ever seen. Eventually BT said they could run me a new line out but they wouldn't guarantee that it would be any better, and in fact could be uncapable of getting broadband, so I stuck with the dodgy line - which oddly enough sorted itself out after a couple of months..

However, it still acts up every once in a while, randomly losing sync or just dropping the connection. I have completely zero faith in BT ever being able to fix it.

I would get them to try again with a new line, but I've just not got the time to sit around at home waiting for them to turn up multiple times, and go through all the same stupid tests to get to that point again, as it would probably require more days off from work than I have holiday allocation..

I had a nice problem with NTL when i moved into my house in september... they had a serious fault with their new connections stuff... but were still installing people...

They installed us on the 17th September... it was October before we actually had internet tho...

Other than that... NTL is fine...unless you need to speak to someone... hehe but which company isnt these days?
Oh...and they just upgraded us to 2mb for free this morning
