If he wasn't carrying a brolly would he have crashed so badly?

Having been to China, carrying a brolly is prolly the safest thing you see them carry on a bike, they are all loonies.

Does this mean that when in China, you must carry a brolly on a bike (even when its not raining) ?
PS: Certainly beats my experience of coming into contact with the rear wheel arch of a white van man with my front wheel on my bike...
EDIT: PPS: As a photographer, i know fully well how long it takes to wait for a photo to be perfect to take... the number of hours ive wasted just waiting for sometihng to happen... not that ive sat in front of a pot hole waiting for someone to fall off their bike or anything![]()
'White van man' and bikes don't mix. I was cycling up a bridge over a railway line once, not exactly far, and I wasn't going that slow... some idiot in a white van tried to overtake just before the crest of the hill, got to the top and a car was coming the other way so immediately swerved back, forcing me off the road, over the pavement and into the fence over the railway line.
Arsehole.
To be fair, my arsehole white van man made contact with me as a result of a VERY blind corner... and he stopped and helped pick me up...whilst the minibus full of university students (they were waiting for everyone to arrive before going on a field trip) did fook all... unfortunately the only place i have pictures of my lovely buckled wheel is on my mobile... and i havent worked out how to get them on my computer yet... :/
