Airsofting uses compressed air and springs to fire a small lightweight plastic projectile at someone. It's alot more like real combat than paintballing.

It doesn't hurt more. The amount of energy/momentum a paintball has when it hits you is massive compared to airsofting.
    Kinetic energy = 1/2 m(mass) x velocity^2

It depends on what gun the opponent has. Some guys who have automatics can stick 4 BB's into you a second, which hurts alot more than just 1 paintball

It also depends on what clothing you are wearing. Full military camo > shorts + tshirt

iirc, 400m/s muzzle velocity... And some weapons (the licensed ones), have a 900 yard range!

    I have 2 airsoft pistols,

    a 6mm BB Sig Sauer 228 (Black)
    and a 6mm BB P99 (Black)

Great fun, very accurate - but yes it hurts LOTS more than paintballs, especially at close range..

iirc they have 0.5joules of power per shot, dont know what this is verses paintballs but trust me they hurt more, even wth just spring based ones like mine.

Dont even want to think how much the gas based or electric based ones hurt lol

got mine from www.surplusstore.co.uk , great site with excellent customer service, you can spend hours browsing through it tho (!)

My mate owns a fully electric automatic G36c with silencer, dot scope, laser pointer and flashlight along with some serious sidearms.

Think he also has a Mac11/9 fully automatic gas pistol which fires a 50clip in about 4 seconds. Its mental i tell thee.

This is the energy a random paintball gun I found online gives out:
    1.5-2.5J .(adjustable)
Also given the fact that paintballs weigh alot more than BB pellets which range from about 0.1 to about 0.36 grams. The surface area will be smaller on impact but it still has more energy.

The fact that a paintball deforms first then explodes on impact will do alot to reduce the apparent impact pressure!

ps anyone know anywhere around the oxford area that does this? Reckon I've got a better aim than my mates... ¬_¬
