I remember yeeears ago just after CS first came out, there was a big art community surrounding it. People would Photoshop screenshots to create scenes etc. They looked pretty crappy but there was a huge buzz every time someone created something good. No one could have imagined anything like those pictures though

It's just the combine model re-rendered in 3DS Max with HDR and the model set to a high poly count. Could take you 10 mins tops to do that
