I need a job in Canada

This is for my industrial placement year on Computer Science. Basically i've contacted my industrial placements office and talked to them about foreign placement, i have to sort out getting a job myself if it's on a different continent so i need to find a job in preferably Vancouver. I'm in the first year at the moment and the placement is in the third year but we're suppose to finalise the job by october and sort it out in august (a year earlier than we go on the actual placement)

Basically, the job needs to be for a Computer Science student so lots of programming. It needs to specifically include programming (preferably in Java but could be for C++ as well) and no tea boy jobs as that's not allowed. Anyone know where i should start looking or who i should contact? I know wedge is there but not sure where abouts in Canada he is and if he can hook me up? Even though it's an industrial placement year i'll still get paid but obviously not as much a standard employee. Usually it's around 11k and can go up to 20k dependant on where you get a job.

I'd be seriously appreciative if anyone can get me any info, i'm going to have a good look now but some people might have some good contacts?

    Cheers

Ah nice link, it looks like the majority of jobs i've found for programming are based in Toronto, Ontario so i've e-mailed one company so far as they concentrate on Java. I'll be e-mailing a few more soon

There's quite a few in Ottawa. Nortel's headquarters is in Ottawa and companies like IBM and Adobe have large offices there too.

The company I work for has an office in Vancouver, but it's quite a small operation so I doubt they're looking for placement students.

Surely Canadian students do placement as well? I could contact a university in Canada and ask if they've got any links perhaps? I'll look at Ottawa as well, cheers Aaron and thankyou Moonshade

It may be possible, i'll contact my YC but she did tell me to look for one myself and then go for a meeting with the committee about it. I think it'd be best if i did get hold of a Canadian uni and went through them, that way i know the job is good enough for a Comp Sci student in the industrial placement year

EDIT: E-mailed my YC, she'll get back to me in the next day or so, if it does work out then i'll just exchange with a Canadian university and then they'll arrange for me to have industrial placement. Good thinking moby! much appreciated
