Are tower fans as good as normal fans?

Seems like it takes up a whole lot less space, do they function as good? I don't want to spend more on a weak fan, need it to be quiet too

They are just as good at moving air. However, you gotta be careful with them. Most are very quiet when new, but after you drop it a few times and the blower gets a bit lop sided, you will wish it was as quiet as a stack of vantec tornados.

hehe , can't you just go inside them and fix them?

Also, i don't actually know how they work, design-wise, how is it so tall & slim?

Lol i have one in my room.

The base is about 25cm square, whilst the towery thing is about 15cm square, and in total mine is probably about 60cm tall (i couldnt be bothered to measure height )

Anyway basically the towery thing rotates, and inside there is basically a tower of twisted rubber blades that just spin (with a moderately headache inducing sound) - but you get used to it, and it does chuck out a fair bit of shafted air.

Don't ask me how i got mine tho, i didn't buy it!

You can have a timer (which i use to help me get to sleep) and also different speed settings. It is very handy, and you can just stick it somewhere and it doesn't use up much space!

    Hope that sort of helps

Oh, so it's not as quiet as normal fan designs? I definitely need it to be quiet
