Firstly, sorry if this is in the wrong place but I thought it would get an answer quicker here.
Well, I just installed a lovely new 7.1 surround sound set (working 101%) and I open a game and get this:
Basically, should I be worried?

Did you knock the power cable out of the graphics card whilst installing the sound card?
You might have just nudged it.
Other than that your psu might not be up to the job of supplying power to graphics and sound at the same time...

It's a 350 watt PSU so not the best but at the same time should be ok, what do you think?
And i've just checked, I didn't knock it.

Is it a unknown brand 350W psu or a decent brand name such as Antec or Enermax?
I suspect that it is an unknown brand and may not be up to the job.

It came with the case so some cheap Chinese crap
Got a 2800xp, 2 X 512mb Pc 3200, two hardrives, Nvidia 6600gt so I guess that's why...
What's the cheapest PSU that should be able to run this lot ok? Can't really spend too much.

Do a forum search for "cheap PSU" I'm sure a wealth of threads will come up.
Make sure that whatever you get is a decent reputable brand name.

According to that 290watts should be fine.Originally Posted by Matt1eD

Are you sure your power supply can give 290W sustained power?
Have a look at the label and see what the +12V and +5V Max Current output is. I would say they need to be at least 16A and 35A respectively for your system .

It's not down to wattage, it's down to how the PSU can supply a decent power rating. If it's a generic PSU then it's probably not good enough, you'll probably have to buy a new one which is actually decent
Uses something like Speedfan to check the voltages it's putting out.
I dont like speedfan it lies to me! Says my computer is on fire, when it blatently isnt. If only you could overclock power supplys.
