Yup, the controller for the dimmer is actually on the switch. It's the same cabling as the standard ones
Make sure you get a dimmer than can cope with the wattage of your lights however, espechaly if you have more than one. It was a pain in the arse finding one for our halogen lights.
yup, i've done it a few times with remote control light switches

Quite easy, just turn the fuse for the relavant level of your house to off before you start changing boxes over!
I agree, dead easy, just remember to take the fuse out and follow the wiring diagram that comes with the new switch.
Just also be warned you can't use a dimmer with energy efficient flourescent bulbs.

Edit: How many software engineers does it take to change a lightbulb?
None, that's a hardware fault.

Ok, I'll start a quick book:
2-1fav: Large shock, quick trip to the Hospital just to make sure all is ok.
4-1: Repeated minor shocks over a 50 minute period.
9-1: Death.
14-1: Dimmer switch fitted without incident.
25-1: Bottles out, gets man in.
Ladies and Gentlemen, place your bets!

It's an easy job ... BUT ... it is now illegal to do jobs like this around the home unless you are a qualified electrician. No, seriously, it is. The law recently changed.
I don't know how the hell they're going to enforce the stupid law.
