Just finishing work (ugh - overnight downtime)

Totally irrelevant post, but I've just finished migrating an MS SQL Server database onto some new hardware, and updating about 40 websites to follow it. Only one site is B0rked but it's only a tool for clients to upload images, so they can whistle for it until I wake up this afternoon

Ugh, to quote my co-worker "Microsoft Commerce Server sucks many eggs"

Just so this isn't the worst of dead end threads, anyone else have to work evil hours at random times when their job requires it? (All nighters at Uni the day before your dissertation is due probably count!)

Anyhoo, Goodnight people, thanks for helping me through the dull bits. Andrew.
They told me I was gullible ... and I believed them.

Yup im in similar booat to you. Our server downtimes have to be weekends or over nighters etc.

We also support overseas so sometimes im working at 3 in the morning talking to somone in nigeria who i can hardly understand, and with a 3 second delay on te phone - not easy. So yes - i know how ya feel - doing support work of any sort or an emergency service or anyone who has to work odd hours - something other than 9-5, is certainly different. I couldnt imagine doing a standard 9-5 day all day every day - and im sure those that do - couldnt imagine working overnite to sort stuff out.

This is why I do the VPN thing, so that if I have to down servers, I can do it in the middle of the night, from home, in my slippers. With a mug of cocoa.
