    Vitamins, omega fish oils etc

    URGH!

Right, my mum is constantly going on about how i dont have enough vitamins in my diet and how i need omega fish oils to make my brain work. Which is probably true, but i've survived thus far....

However, yesterday she comes home with "EYE Q smooth". It's the stuff that they gave to a class full of kids for 3 months and measured their concentration levels afterwards. So apparently it's particularly paletable....

    NO ITS NOT!

I thought "yeah, ok, if kids drink it, i'll give it a go"... So opened one of the tubes and took a wiff... OH MY GOD IT STINKS! Not of fish tho... not even an oily icky smell, no, IT SMELLS OF BUBBLEGUM!

Its revolting, the smell turns my stomach. It reminds me of something, but i cant think what.... it's like the smell of those bubblegum things with the juicy stuff in the middle that we used to have when we were kids... not hubba bubba, somet else... anyway, it mings, so i threw it in the bin.

Now my mum decides i should have one right now, so she makes one up and hands it to me in a glass... and makes me drink it... I swear i gagged on it, it almost went all over the floor! I was fine drinking orange flavoured cod liver oil!!

    *sigh*

Has anyone else come across this revolting devil's piss?

Oh and parents, if u feed it to your children, i suggest you taste it then stop. lol

They suck, my moms got the same stupid idea into her head that they would be beneficial to my studies if I eat all of these weird and wonderful smelly vitamins and oils.

You have to be aware that, in the history of medicine, possibly excluding Calpol and Bonjella, any attempts to disguise things for what they are have failed miserably.

That's why most vitamins are in tablet or capsule form, so you can just neck them.

Have you seen those things they do at Boots now? Sprayvit I think it's called.....it's basically just vitamins in a mouth spray. They taste alright actually, but I can't help thinking it's just a total gimmick.

The best vitamins were Haliborange. I used to eat them as a kid like they were sweets.....now look how I've turned out

My mum has a habit of filling an egg cup with all the vitamins and stuff she wants me to take, seems to think my diet is going to kill me. Also she makes all these herbal remedies for everything from sore throat to headache and boy do they ming.

simple solution is take them in capsule form as others said ^^

what does you diet consist of that your mum is worried, and shouldnt she just be feeding you healthy food instead of trying to compensate with supplements.

I cant swallow capsules, hence my mum's desperate plea to get me to take them in liquid form!

I used to take haliboranges too, yum yum but they only come in vit C And apparently the orange cod liver oil syrup doesn't have omega 3 oils in it :/

Silent ben, Although i was/am a student, i live at home, so i'm not living on a student food budget and therefore not living on beans on toast I eat whatever my mum eats. she just thinks that since i'm studying for my exams i should be taking omega3 oils to make my brain work

I'm weird, I can swallow a massive cod liver oil capsule AND 2 dirty vitamin tablets, with no water, easily

My moms like have some water have some water, but I just chomp them down, I used to hate popping pills though, I guess you must get used to doing it

The trick to swallowing is to point your head downwards, that way the capsule floats on the water in your mouth at the back of your mouth and you can then swallow easily. Tilting your head back is the worst way.

Best source of omega 3 is flax seed.
The seeds keep ages if stored right, just put some in a coffee grinder, then mix with yoghurt.
Or just buy flaxseed oil and squirt some on your breakfast cereal. Makes that semi-skimmed milk taste nice and creamy, like gold top. God, do they even make that any more? Proper milk with 2 inches of cream floating at the top so you had to shake the bottle. Hmmm.

I dont have a problem swallowing capsules, but i just tryed that. Logic says it should work well.
And it did! Except you have to tip your head back to drink water first...
