    "missed off" payroll

I got missed off the pay roll and have essentially been working 'for free' this past month.
it seems the personel department and the finance department do not communicate despite one being the other side of the desk from the other. honestly its hopeless. I rang up wondering why everyone else in the department has a paycheque and I didn't, First person (in 'personnel') said my problem lies with 'salaries'...but they didn't have the number to talk with salaries. not that they're that far away its just it seems no one talks without using a phone. maybe talking to someone face to face is a taboo in the building?
so I rang 'salaries' and then was told I 'stopped working on the 6th May'...really? I'd like to know how if I've been coming in since 1st june each day I managed to stop work and not restart (I restarted in june cause we got more funding). surely the fact my security card works in the doors [with access to potentially dangerous substances...think terrorism maybe or animal rights nutters] is some indication that perhaps I work here? maybe? you'd think.

    bunch of morons.

now they will send a 'manual' cheque to my bank on monday...which will no doubt get lost in the post or similar, i better check they send it recorded/next day etc., it'll also take a bit to go through.

    aaaaaaah.

people who work in university personnel/finance departments need to
    a) c-o-m-m-u-n-i-c-a-t-e and
    b) be shot. in the head.

thankfully I work in a completely separate building to them. and the nasty substances thing is a serious no no. really, nasty substances would kill you with less than a teeny tiny drop...they're that bad. I think there's some arrow-frog extract around too. mmmm, nice stuff!

i think I can get hold of a large gun with rapid fire ability. that would surely mow them all down in less than a few seconds, then I can get on with things as normal. agreed a bit more messy but all the more enjoyable.

IF I was you I would make a list of all the "charges*" you are going to endure by them paying you late and take them in first thing on Monday and demand that you be compensated for these due to their total ineptness.

    * thats if you have Direct-Debits and whatnot going out of your account.

I sympathise on the uni front here, I work in a uni and the best thing was the first day I started I went to them personally and gave them tax codes NI numbers and I still managed to work 3 months on emrgancy tax which they gave back after I basically pointed out to them how to use their fingers and a keyboard and gave them my NI number and Tax number and stood there till it was done.

It would be more satisfying to see the lead runners of the Isle of Man TT races place their back wheels on the persons face and then "wheelspin" until they set off.

    That's MORE satisfying
