It's not too bad, although I think I'm getting a bit old for them as the quality of writing really got to me towards the end. It's also not really a complete book in the way that 4 and 5 were (from 3 onwards they've basically been building up to a finale, I've felt) and it's not as intricate in leaving you clues for the twists at the end as the others have been (shame) - the climax seemed to be pulled out of the air somewhat. Dumbledore's death was nicely done (his frailties were nicely accentuated) and the treachery of Snape was hinted at with the Unbreakable - although I was expecting some cunning way of him getting out of it (like dying).
Even so, fairly shocking to kill off Dumbledore (although if I was writing the series and wanted to jack up the tension, that's what I'd have done) , more shocking that Snape was a git (what with all the trust Dumbledore previously had and the utter lack of clues - I wasn't too satisfied with the explanation for this). The invention of the Horcruxes and the introduction of R.A.B make for an interesting finale though, as do the plight of the Malfoys, and obviously the Snape thing.
It's good that the last one is getting out of Hogwarts though - Rowling almost seems to be bored of writing up lessons, quidditch matches and detentions (very short, or ignored, the school was used as a backdrop rather than as a feature for most of the book) so it should be more interesting to get a book which is basically fixed on the plot.
Anything else that's pertinent I'll add later - I'm not going to summarise the plot because frankly there's too much of it and I'm utterly useless at summarising (sorry).
