Can’t lose anymore weight but still have a belly! Help!

ok i have lost a few stone, and i'm now sat around 15 stone. i'm large framed and 6'3 i have very toned legs/bum and don't really have any weight any where else on my body apart from my belly. infact if i lose more weight people comment on my face being thin and gaunt... and the belly remains.

so what exersise's can anyone recomend to shift stomach weight? i don't drink beer and follow a very strict diet to keep me between 14 stone 12 pounds and 15 stone 2 pounds.

your body will decide where to shift weight from..

i'd be surprised if your face really looked thin @ 14 stone.. but different people loose wieght in different ways - if you want a skinnier belly yer'll just have to loose weight.

Does it really matter as long as your healthy? Id worry more about blood pressure and cholestorol levels than having a tummy

diet & exercise. Cut out the fat, plenty of CV exercise & hit those abs hard with plenty of crunces. Remember to work the lower abs first, then upper & obliques.

You can't spot reduce fat. It's impossible. Situps are no good either, they in theory, make the muscles bigger underneath the fat.

How old are you? What excercise do you do? I'd recommend some cardiovascular work. How do you travel to work / school / college? Can you walk? Can you bike? Try jogging? I'd recommend speaking with your doctor before starting any exercise regime. Another option is to sign up to a gym and get a personal trainer, although I'm not a fan of gyms.

I'm pretty similar to you, I'm almost 6ft 2in and I'm just under 15 stone. My lower body is fine, it's quite bulky due to playing a lot of football. I am quite big boned though, you can tell from the size of my ankles, wrists, and also my fingers.

Maybe people are commenting on your 'gaunt' face if they are used to seeing you with a 'chubbier' face?

Leg raises, they absolutely blast lower abs if done properly - lie on your back, legs up at 90 degrees, hold it for a minute, reduce by 10 degrees, hold it for a minute, repeat until you get about an inch off the floor, then go back the other way..

Or you can start at 90, drop to inch off the floor, hold for 10 secs, raise to 90, hold for 10, repeat, and do sets of those..

Also, if you don't do sit-ups/crunches properly, it can actually bowl your stomach out, rather than making it flatter..

You've really got to burn those calories too with CV work. Reveal the inner washboard abs Not that i've had any & i've been a gym regular for 20 yrs

Grab a copy of Mens Health or Mens Fitness, they're always running articles on a flatter stomach.

as has been said, you cant lose weight from one particular place in your body. When you excersise you build up muscle and use up fat from wherever your body choses. It generally uses the newer fat over the fat that's been there longer.

    That's like me, strangely.

I'm 16 stone, 6ft 1", and the only fatty part on me is my stomach, I don't have a fat face, strong legs (they are big though, but not fat, muscley from lots of biking), same for arms/hands etc.

    Just my damn belly >_<

Looks like a lot of us have the same problem, what do the professionals say?

I can usually hide my belly pretty good, and its presence is mostly due to my posture, not the fast as i can feel the muslces underneath are right there, not much fat in front, just enough to round things off

A good point to mention is that although i have been leading a very sit-down lifestyle, absolutely no cardio-type exercise at all, all my spare time is spent pretty much online and at work i just stand up all day near enough on the same spot with just a bit of walking. I have managed to drop from 13.5 st to ~12.7 stone just by paying a little attention to what i eat.

The way i see it, you could simply eat anything you want and pay the price later with a lot of cardio, or just avoid the bad stuff from the start. Which works for me as i live in an area that really does not make me feel like going out walking/exercising.

I would actually really love to get outdoors and get fit, and i will definitely be jumping on the fitness bandwagon when i move
