    o2 Insurance

    What a joke..
Lost my phone the weekend before last.
Got back from Billing on the Sunday, checked everywhere in the car, with the kit I took, in all the bags, asked around the people that were camped around me, nothing.
Rang up the o2 shop on the wednesday as I had been pretty busy that week, got a number for the o2 insure people, they said I had to talk to o2 CS first, spoke to them, they said I needed a lost property number, rang Northamptonshire Police, got a number, rang o2 back, got thru to there insurance people, they emailed me a form which I printed, filled in, signed and email back to them, all of that took about 3 hours.

A week later I get a letter from o2 insurance saying that there not replacing my phone as the "Loss of your handset is not covered by the terms of my o2 insure policy"
So whats the point in paying £5 a month for o2 Insure Gold when they dont send you an effing phone!!!

You thought about phoning up O2 and querying it?

Explain that you'd been convinced about the insurance covering loss etc and you where most disappointed etc and you where thinking of speaking to ofcom about the miss selling unless they could do something about sorting this out...

    worth a shot i hope...

Aye, my friend had her fone stolen from the seat she was sitting on. Sat on the train, put it down beside her whilst she leant down to get her bag and *poof* gone! Some sh*t grabbed it n run off. They wouldnt cover her for it either! I mean god, do you have to have it tied round your neck and have ur head chopped off before they'll give you a new one or what??

I don't use phone insurance because of horror stories like these.

I have the phones for you insurance, excess is a bit higher, but with a £350 handset (sim free that is) I'd rather make sure I am covered.

I am also going to have it covered by my university cover.

You'd use the force to retrieve it though, wouldn't you Yoda?

Claiming on house insurance would be pointless IMO, the premium would go up more than the phone would cost to replace.

I have never and probably will never bother with insurance on phones, it seems pointless. If it breaks then that's what the manufacturers warranty is for.

This is why I like carphonewarehouse's insurance, Im covered for everything except my phone being stolen from a parked car (as I dont drive these days) and anything not in the UK.

Ive claimed twice on different contracts and each time they've checked my insurance instore on their PC and given me a replacement phone there and then.

I never bother with phone insurance, because if my phone went missing I'd ask for a new sim card and put up with using one of my old phones for a few months until my contract was up, or just buy a PAYG Nokia for £30 and unlock it.
