On online shops, why don't they accept mobile numbers when filling out customer details? What happens if i don't have a house phone? What if i never answer my house phone and only use my mobile

Well in most cases they expect you to have a phone because you are using the internet (Using a landline to access the internet)
But I guess if your using Wi-Fi in a public place (for example), then it could be different.
When I get my own place I'm not getting a landline. Mobile phone all the way. Whats the point in paying for two phone lines when I get free mins and texts on a mobile?
Good point, although next year i'll be in halls at uni and will not have my own telephone. What can i do then?Originally Posted by XA04
So what about an internet connection? That will need a landline.Originally Posted by Lead_Head
I have never had a problem with using a mobile number in the main/landline/daytime number box with any site. Which site was it?

Not 100% true, i don't need one on cable...,Originally Posted by beanbandit
As for Mobiles I personally certainly choose not to pay a monthly contract on my mobile phone as i massively prefer my landline to talk to people.
A fake number will be okay in the most part i'd say.

The reason for it is that they tend to use a number to address verification system..
Which is pretty much useless..

Ask your parents/friends if you could just their phone number.Originally Posted by Marcos
I put in my mobile number into landline fields. I dont need a land line for my internet connection either, the only reason we have one is cos it's part of our ntl package.
In a lot of cases it checks if your phone number is a valid landline number via javascript too, so you could just disable javascript. But in some cases it won't be javascript.
This is most annoying when trying to apply for NTL Broadband over the phone actually...
Them "Please put in your home telephone number so that we can transfer you to our nearest call centre to improve efficiency"
Me "I dont have a home telephone, im a student, all i need is my mobile so wtf do i enter?"
Them "You have not entered a recognised number, please re-enter your home telephone number"
Me "AAAARRRRGGHHH"
It did let me continue with a mobile number, but i just thought what if it hadn't? Thats why i made the thread.Originally Posted by dangerous_dom
