ICE - In case of emergency [UK] (sobering post)

It's not often I motivate myself to venture far from Hexus bargains...

ICE - a new campaign launched accross the UK.

As everyone is aware, since the terrorists attacked London on the 7th many people were killed and without much guess work, they'll probably attack again now we're running the olympics in 2012...

Unfortunately, should you be involved in ANY incident and haven't yet been reported missing, the police will try and use your mobile phone to contact someone who can get the message out. This does mean that the first people they look for is 'Mum' 'Dad' or 'Parents'.

In most cases this isn't a problem, however sometimes you don't actually WANT the first contact to be your parents - perhaps your wife or uncle (if your parents aren't good with grief...).

Anyway, to make sure they're not the first people on the line, put a contact called 'ICE' in your phone with the number of the person you want contacted first - they can then inform the rest of your family at a suitable time.

Obviously don't go travelling around a lot with your ICE contact :- )

Please spread the word - especially with children etc who don't have cashcards or carry other ID.

    Now for something slightly cheerier...

Sounds like a good idea, but are doctors aware of it?

I'd rather run the risk of my phone getting infected than give up the chance of help when I'm in trouble tbh.

lol - definately an urban myth that. Mind you, if you've got a certain type(s) of phone, it's possible to access anything on it using bluetooth.
