Clearing out the Garage that time forgot.
Whilst stopped at my parents house, I finally got round to convinceing dad that clearing the garage of many many years of accumulated rubbish was a good thing.
In a sad techy geeky way I'm sad to see a lot of interesting hardware go to the tip. I'm sure there are bits that are worth something to someone, really odd bits and bobs I could never get time to catalouge. No doubt in years to come someone with very thick spectacles will curse me for throwing out some of this stuff!
I'd love to get the time to rebuild some of these old systems or restore them, but it's got to the point where it's gotta be chucked. It's made the place totaly unusable and it's getting in the way of life in general. So sentimental thoughts for green screens aside, it's going the way of the council dump.
But if you want an old MFM 10Mb Disc Drive or something crazy like that, now's the time to shout... you're free to pop over for it ;)
So a bit of a blog thread..... Snapping the odd thing on it's way out.
Plenty of these double hight HDDs thrown out (and I saw a tripple 5 1/4 go today). Probably all under 50Mb

Mostly found in systems like this 286 IBM XT (note you can see the same pannels on the front). I kid you not, it weighs a similar amount to my compaq proliant server in it's rack case. A lot of stuff thrown out was 8088 based.... just one FDD, HDD being a dream.

And if you want to add communications capability, why not use one of the XT card slots to fit this monster in?

Couple of older keyboard designs you may remember. It's only a guide price on the 2nd one.

A lot of 5 1/4 FDDs made their exit, this one being one of the more interesting.

The fastest system to get chucked today. The mighty 386DX, so the full 32-bit data bus :) But sadly lacking a 387 in the socket next door :( At least we're on to AT slots now..... VLB coming soon!
