    Heart Rate Monitor

As part of my swimming my coach has advised I get a chest positioned heart rate monitor. Not knowing anything about the products myself I was wondering if someone here could shed some light on them for me? I will research some and then head back to my coach with some potentials.

The requirements are that it is water-proof, fits around my chest area and would be as un-obtrusive as possible for when I am moving through the water.

If anyone has any hands on experience of using this type of equipment their opinions and reviews are also welcome.

    Thanks, Tom

Best site i've seen is http://www.swimtecheartrateuk.com/

so far... I've checked all my literature and crap but i don't have any links.

I found that just counting it to a stopwatch or pace clock works well enough. I can't use the monitors as my heart is foobared.

I would think one on the wrist would be better, as the drag on the chest would make it fall off... not tried it... but just a thought.

Yeh I normally work off a pace clock but we are getting pretty specific with the work now so need an exact count...he also wants to use it as a measure as well I think so he can shout at me when I am going to quick or slow for the set!
