Arnie did it!
(Maybe we can get Vinnie Jones to run for Number 10!)
Let;'s hope he does well and silences his critics!
Also let's hope he follows Regans path.
Actor -> Governor of California -> President.

WTF would you want an actor doing in the White House! Jesus! What are you thinking
"All our beliefs are being challenged now, and rightfully so, they're stupid." - Bill Hicks
Why not?
Everyone's saying what a muppet Bush is, so why not Arnie?
I wouldn't bet against it happening tho...... if young American Voters get their way.
I still think Bill Clinton was the man, he was doing good things in the middle east

I don't care either way!
Arnie did it, and that has made my morning!
And if he gets Presidency, even better.
Anyone know how long Arnie's been a US citizen? I ask because of Article 11, S1, Clause 5 of the Constitution governing eligibility for the office of President:
"Clause 5: No Person except a natural born Citizen, or a Citizen of the United States, at the time of the Adoption of this Constitution, shall be eligible to the Office of President; neither shall any Person be eligible to that Office who shall not have attained to the Age of thirty five Years, and been fourteen Years a Resident within the United States."
I mean, he probably is well within those criteria, I'm just asking.
I'm not overly enthused by the idea of another Reagan type in the Oval Office; Reagan presided over a massive inflation in the US budget deficit (for all the cries of fiscal profligacy, it was Clinton who actually balanced the books for a change). And it was Reagan's administration that tried to screw us over the Falklands (risking British lives in the process), by providing (indirectly) advance warning of operations to retake South Georgia amongst other things.
Brilliant
I wanted Arnie to be govoner from day 1.... better than all the other fools running...
Today, Govoner.... tomorrow.... PRESIDENCY!!

NOTHING TO BE SEE HERE, MOVE ALONG PLEASE....

That's right!
its unlikely, unless they change the constitution, that arnie will be president - oh I know lots of people want him to be but because of his non-american birth/childhood etc its written that only americans can be president. lets hope thay change things for the better eh...
oh and theres also Mrs. Clinton...she'd be good up there - but again, like black people, I doubt we'd see an american 1st lady just yet...we might, hope we do (we had one in Maggi Thatcher, did well for her) perhaps a woman in power over there will shut them up a bit. damn i hate bush.

I think it's really funny that the Californians have voted for Arnie as their governor.
He has no experience of running everything, but has been put in charge of the 5th largest economy in the world!
And why have they voted for him? Because he said he would 'terminate' all their problems
I listened to an interesting article about all this on Radio 4 yesterday. Basically the Californian people have rejected the idea of any tax cuts, but seen to have forgotten that because of the dotcom crash (hit California really badly) and the downturn in the US economy generally over the last four years the amount of revenue coming into the state is greatly reduced (by as much as 20% in some estimates). The economics expert on the show reckoned that it didn't matter who was in charge, the problems would stay the same.
David Jason for Prime Minister!
Errr...just cited the relevant clause above, and I'm willing to bet that Arnie is eligible. He IS a US citizen, and he HAS been resident within the US for more than 14 years.Originally posted by shiato storm

edit: Oh, hang on, my misreading "at the time of the adoption of this constitution" - yes it would need an amendment (he's not THAT old ). Oooops...
The triumph of stupidity over common-sense.......
Currently Arnie could not be US president because he was born in Austria. Senator “Orin Hatch” is currently trying to pass a bill so that anyone who has been a US citizen for 20 years and lived in the US for 14 years can be president. Arnie was naturalized in 1983, so just scrapes it in then, should the bill be passed. Some info here
