    Talking Vodka and Hard Drives!

    Well, after the Coke and Computers thread - I thought the next step would be to try coke in a hard drive - but I didn't have any coke, so I decided to use Vodka instead! Warning Kids - Don't try this at home, it could be dangerous.

    I got an old 365mb hard drive, got the top off, just leaving tape around holding it on. Booted from the hard drive into Windows 98 and set a defrag running...

    Before:

    During (vodka in drive, and it's still running!):

    After: (it's still running!!)

    You wasted high quality vodka on that....? hehe

    Quite insane though... would have thought it would have done something. maybe it should be tried to light it afterwards - like a christmas pudding...

    I think most are missing the point here - it TAKES quality vodka to pull off an operation like this...any old cheap stuff simply will not do.
    perhaps this will lead the market in hard drives bathed in alcohol as cooling fluids, hmmm, interesting idea actually. so long as none of the electrical components spark and turn your maxtor fireball - into a fireball...that burn mark on the carpet is a really hard one to explain, and no 'the cat did it' is not a valid excuse. believe me, its been tried...

    smirnoff is horrible industrial stuff.

    try absolut for decent high-street vodka, or grey goose for the dog's dandies

    We once poured Ribena on a 7200rpm drive to see how far it would disperse it.

    We found it went quite far.
    PHP Code:
    $s = new signature();
    $s->sarcasm()->intellect()->font('Courier New')->display();

    Update: The hard drive boots to the windows 98 logo screen, but then I get a "read error" and it won't go any further.
