I've been to plenty of festivals over the year. Out of the big ones I've never done reading/leeds (mainly because there's never a great deal on the lineup).

Been to Glastonburys, and Vs (both sites) mostly, and I must say I've never seen anything remotely like what's described.

The worst thing that I've ever seen happen at a festival was glasto '03 where some drunk tripping over a guy rope and ripping someones tent. Which he then paid for.

That really is totally alien compared to my festival experiances (ok ok, some of them are cambridge folk festival.... but Irish night's cool)

I've been to V when the lineup's good enough. I just see it as a lot of decent gigs strung together where you can stay overnight if you want.

Thats exactly why its not a real festival, I paid 130 quid odd for a reading ticket, I saw what was probably only 4 or 5 bands in 4 days, but it was the best weekend of my life, V is about the silly music, Reading is about the atmousphere and having a good time, seing athlete do a 30 minute set, or getting a bird back in your tent and chillin with a 20 crate of ice cold stella

    Work it out

I can do pretty much the same at any weekend out without having to pay the £130. Horses for courses, I'm in it for the music and have seen some of the best stuff ever at festivals.

As swafe said, ain't a festival tbh, its way too clean and theres no elements of suprise, plus the line-up for last year nearly all the bands started with "the"......never a good start tbh.

Call me 'controversial' here but does the definition of a festival actually matter? If you're going to an event where several bands that you like are playing, does it really matter what it's called?

Havn't been for a couple of years.

One year I went for just one day 'cause everything I wanted to see was on the one day. So I'm obviously not in it for the festival part in thate case

Although If I'd have had a rifle to hand I may have considerd satying to watch muse..... although there'd have been a crosshair involved

Someone I know made a very good point about this. Has this source been verified, ie, is it all true or is some of it exaggerated? I know someone personally that says he was nearly injured by an exploding gas canister, but the rest of it?

This is the forum where the post originated. Some people are saying stupid things happened, but the guy may have been exaggerating. Me? I've no idea. I wasn't there, so I can only report on what I've read or been told.
