I, alas, no longer drink....but many was the slightly fuzzy night spend under the gentle carress of a nice bottle of red....I was just getting to the stage where I could afford to treat myself (very rarely) to a £40+ bottle, just to see how nice it could be, and then I gave it up....shame really....

Dad gets back with 200 bottles of finest southern france red/white/rose and I can't touch a drop till thursday! No '94 left this year, but almost bought out the viticulteur of 1997 (my fave)

I love the vino.

Go to Eastenders in Calais- Dog's Bollocks Range French Red at £7.50 a case= months of quaffing pleasure. Seriously, it's £1.25 a bottle and the most consistently drinkable red I've ever had the pleasure of knocking back.

the 60p stuff is very drinkable (used mainly for vin de table and cooking) if you get the proper french stuff... go to the mammouth hypermarche in north calais (near the stadium)

What, DBR? It's very smooth, almost nothing in the way of oaks and tannins. I suppose complexity freaks would snort at it, but as far as I'm concerned it's a perfect blend of sweetness/acid, with a lovely hint of fruit, and goes down an absolute treat. At £7.50 a case it's well worth grabbing one to see if you like it- I genuinely can't name another wine I enjoy more.

Edit: yes I've had plenty of Vin De Table, and TBH I'm increasingly thinking that Eastenders isn't worth bothering with for anything other than Dog's Bollocks Range red, and cheapo New World wines (Mother-In-Law is mad for South African- and it's cheap there).

Did you say Mammouth? Hasn't been that for a decade or more since Auchan took them over? Get with the times! Where are they though? We just go to Cite Europe....

Well we know it as the Mammouth/Auchan (bearing in mind, a decade ago I was only 12) been going there for the last 15+ years on the way back through for quaff (and chocolate). It's the other side of Calais to the Cité.
It's by some pink and blue high rise flats, opposite a new school and stadium.
Depends if you go ferry or tunnel... I shall just find out from he who knows. It's off the A26 going towards the ferry terminal, come off at the exit for the stadium (stade!).

The stuff we buy isn't vin de table... it's Vin de pays de l'Aude and Vin de pays de l'Herault if you wanna look out for it and give it a try.

Sorry to sully this wine loving moment but, being of only 19 years old I feel that wine would be wasted on me as the ignorance of youth prevents from appreciating wine wether it be red or white.

My brother in-law is a wine connoiseur and so I'm practically surrounded by expensive wine from around the world...
