Those TV puzzle programmes and their puzzles.

On watchdog last week they did a feature about those TV shows where you
have to ring up and give an answer to there puzzle to win some money.

Problem is you cant actaully get to the answer they do, this was what was
    said on watchdog.

Here is one (apparently easy) that i saw on one of them last night.

    How many pubs.

    Davey pub had 20 pubs
    and 20 brothers too.
    They all owned another pub
    a bistro and a zoo.

So what do you get then?

I personally think they work out 20 different answers and if someone gets one
thay scratch that and use one of the others until someone gets the last one.
So have a go and remember show your working haha.

    Possible answers:

0 - Davey *had* a pub but he doesnt have them any more
20 - Davey has 20 pubs and his brothers own part of them
21 - Davey has 20 pubs and him and his brothers all own 1 other.
    40 - Davey's 20 pubs + 20 brothers pubs = 40
    41 - Davey's 20 pubs + they all own another pub + 21 = 41

    any other possibilities?

1 - Davey had a pub, but not any more, while his brothers all own one.
61 - Davey and his brothers are actually all pubs, making 21, while Davey owns 20, and his brothers own another 20.

pfft you just have to be lucky

I've won on them TWICE On Quiz.TV (on ntl/sky)

I entered via the free web entry, got a callback and got on air.

I won 150quid for a 'count all the reds' game, where they have a block of text with some words highlighted in red. You have to count how many reds there are - but they are sneaky, you have to count all the red letters, the red words, and the words 'red' (forwards, backwards, up, down, diagonal)

They repeat games too, but change the win criteria slightly. It's very clever, but theres nothing really wrong with it..the answer is genuine if you work it out the right way, and it fits in with their vague question.

The other one i won was a 'spot the ball type', cant remember exactly how much i won that time but i posted on here about it so if your that interested search for it

I've not won since heh, but I havew nothing against them, since i know for a fact that there are genuine winners, its not a scam

Still all wrong, even though i know the answer i still am not sure how they really got
    to it.

Its higher than 61 so i think you have to start using cheap cheating tactics like spud
    mentions.

    Davey = 20 pubs + his name
Brothers, all with the same surname = 20+(20*3) (one pub, one bistro, one zoo each) = 80
    80+21 = 101?

I'm counting the bistro and zoo as public attractions/stuff/etc.

    OR!

There's something else that I'm thinking of, but the maths gets a bit deeper..
