    Show us your fish tank!

Following on from the other tropical fish thread, it appears there are quite a few of us on the forums who keep fish. So to all of you here's a good place to show them off.

Would be nice to see what everyone's tanks look like, and also what you actually keep in them.

At the moment I have my tank filled with a few live plants and:
    2x angels
2x plecs (one's a leopard plec, not sure what the other one is)
    4x swordtails
    5x tiger loaches
    12x platy
1x guppy (I don't seem to have much luck with them )
    20x neon tetra
Oh and 2x 3 day old swordtail fry (The bigger fish got the rest of them before me)
As you can see, some nice and easy to keep fish.

I have another bowl downstairs that I kind of inherited when some friends moved abroad and in it are:
    11x black tetra
    1x female siamese fighter
    1x rather large gold fish!
A bit of an odd combination, but I've had them for a few years now without any problems.

    My main tank:

    Unidentified plec:

First fry to be born in my tank (only about 4mm long there):

Haven't taken any pics of the fish bowl yet, as it needs a good clean.

As you can tell, I'm not so great at taking photos of fish!

That fish looks like it could gobble up half the fish in my tank, Russ!

My local aquatics place have them and have one set up on display with loads of tiger barbs. They do look nice, but I reckon maintainance-wise, they could get a little awkward after a while.

He is my 60L fish tank, looks rather green but I assure you it's just the light. Can hold up to about 15 fish but we currently only have 3. It's got a pretty cool night light as well

I don't think I'll be adding any of them to my tank any time soon!

Nice setup there Nick. I have a bowl which i would like to change for a bigger biob, mainly to give the fish some more space, but also for the better filter system and lighting. Have you got one of those lights that changes throughout the day depending on the time?

Ant, cheers for that link! Didn't see you were in the South East until I looked back and so I checked where the shop was and it is just up the road (I work at Tonbridge School). Never knew it existed, will be visiting there this weekend I think.

No Probs. Compared to some of the shops I've been in, they appear to have the healthiest selection of fish, and their tanks are always well presented. The staff there are also very helpful. It also helps they are very easy to get to, just off the A21.

I live in Tonbridge actually, hadn't realised you were local. (co-incidentally I also work in schools, in TW though )

Lol, which school? I went to TW Boys Grammar, was wondering if it was that one?

I don't actually live in Tonbridge, I live in Brenchley (lived in TW for about 15 years before that). We have an aquatic centre down the road by the Kippings Cross roundabout but the selection is very limited.

Actually its the primary schools I look after, most of them in Tunbridge Wells. Probably your Primary school too.

There is a huge selection at the aquatics centre in Poll Hill, but the condition of their tanks didn't look great.

Yeah I go there from time to time just for a look (Maidenhead aquatics isn't it?). Never buy anything as it is expensive and would be a long way to drive fish back.

You probably didn't do my primary, I went to Stoke Brunswick. Private one over in East Grinstead.

Yeah, I think that's the one.

You're right don't do that one! Mine are all fairly local.

Ok guys after having went on about fishtanks for a while i thought i would put some pictures of my tank and its fish up now.

As you can see the tank has a long way to go. i hope to get alot more palnts in over time and make it look better.

There is more fish than shown in the pictures but it is very ahrd to get them to stay still!!

The swordtail in this picture died last week unfortunatly

Thats One of my female Siamese fighters. I have another somewhere but they tend to hide!

They say you shouldnt keep clichids in the same tank as other freshwater fish but i have had no problems!

I dunno what these are but they have been getting very "friendly" lately and 2 of them ahve got a pretty big belly! However i know nothing about fish mating.

This catfish is weird. It has spikes on its body which it can flex when it feels threatened, but mostly it just sits there looking dead.

2 Golden Rams. i think theya re pretty. And their colours havent fully matured yet.

This is my dead looking clown loach. As you might be able to see on its tale it looks to have whitespot disease. So i have treated the water and can only now hope for the best.

    Hope you like

Careful if it is whitespot, I lost 9 out of 10 of my fish in a few days over this, look for the fish hanging around the surface, breathing quickly and "flicking" against the rocks...
