    starngely firefox on my computer has neve had a little red arrow pop up saying it needs updating...the one at work does though...why would they be differnt?

    Pressed the update button, got 'no update necessary' and the realised i'm using the 1.5 beta! Doh.

    AFAIK, Mozilla roll out the update notifications in stages ~ so as not to swamp their servers with everyone downloading at once

    Red usually means urgent, blue is usually needed, and green is small updates or extensions. (Info isn't 100% accurate, just my guesses on experience)
