    The Story Of Longhorn

    http://www.smartofficenews.com.au/Co.../News/E5T7U6H8

A very good read and quite revealing about the huge shift in culture going on at Microsoft right now - anyone _still_ think the next version of windows isn't new?

Is it just me, or is that link not working?

Working here too, very interesting read

Does appear Vista/Longhorn has been totally designed for the ground up.

I guess we'll soon see just how "ground - up" Vista really is...and at least they are looking at themselves in the mirror for a change.

Well they've restructured the whole darn company so it's pretty major stuff methinks.
The more I see, and play with, Vista the more i'm getting excited about it. Lots in there that I like already and I love the slick new windowing system.

I finally got mine working after much loading on IE.

So i guess this means that vista won't be as demanding on hardware as they said it would be. "The bells and whistles will come later".

I'm very pleased they're starting the whole thing from scratch now .

Yeah they're looking to build a solid, modular codebase which they can 'plugin' functionality to later - which, amusingly enough, is exactly what i do in my own software. Works too
