Is there any way to tick lock a pc?

My daughter spends too much time on the pc, and were trying to find a way to curtail her use. Ive got an internet thing which stops access to websites after a certain time, but dosent do anything about games and msn etc.

is there a program i can use to do this, allot her 2 hours of pc time and a password is needed at other times?

if you have a domain based structure , you can restrict login hours.
I'm sure there might be a shareware application for it though.

what about disconnecting her network cable

most routers have something on to limit services at certain times - i'd stick that on if i were you..

failing that, put some vpn software on and use it to disable some stuff on her pc at random times

Umm you are the parent, kick her off it? If she doesn't get off, hit the power switch. She will soon learn.

Yeah I'm another to agree with that, however she might kick off (don't know your daughter so I can't say but it's just a guess), where as if she knows there is some software on the computer to restrict the time, derthballs will be out of the way whilst the computer is kicking her off

lol, that would be funny if it was in the back room upstairs or something.

*Goes down to the kitchen, unplugs the kettle, walks upstairs, goes to daughter, unplugs computer, plugs in kettle, turns on kettle. "Oops, wrong plug" *

Que? What I meant is that some kettles will trip the power if you turn them on without any water in.

I already have her internet access time restricted via net nanny, however, it dosent stop her playing normal games on it, she sometimes sneaks out of bed or during the night if she cant sleep, not good habits to have, and im at my wits end without actually resorting to removing the pc from her room, unfortunately its not as easy as just putting the foot down, pre pubescent 11 year old girls is an argument your never gonna win - so im having to resort to devious tactics, ill take a look at that page moby, cheers.

    take her mouse. simple.

or you could put a network-centric version of windows on - i think you can add policies to stop people accessing the pc at cirtain times on that

Break the pc, then have a hudge go at her for breaking it, and take it away. Easy peasy.

Or you could be frank with her and say that your conserned about her adiction... Intoduce new methods of helping her to get to sleep.

Moreover fit really noisy fans, and then complain that it keeps you awake.
