Rhyth is looking for a new TV for his family

Rhyth is looking for a new TV for his family. I would like a 24" flat/wide screen with great build quality. I am looking around the £300 mark although I'm not sure I need to spend that much, tbh I would rather that than have a cheap build set that won't last. I've been thinking Sony, Panasonic and Toshiba but I don't have a good idea of thease manufacturers when it comes to tv's you see. Does anyone have advice on choosing a tv for me please?

    Thanks in advance Rhyth

(this is a re-post from the audio/visual arena)
    Rhyth is selling:
Tamron 17-50mm F2.8 XR Di ll LD Aspherical (IF) £230 +pp
    Canon 50mm 1.8 II £50 +pp
    Proven good copies.

pick up a copy of homecinema choice or what hifi and take a peek - for your money you should get a reasonably high-end set of that size..

Tesco Extra had some Hitach 28" flat CRT (true flat) widescreens for around the £170 mark or something shockling good. I was gobsmacked myself, as I know from past experience that Hitachi equipment is built well (minus the HDDs but they brought that from IBM).

Might need to pop down to one, I cant see them online.

Currys have a large range with some web specials.

    http://www.currys.co.uk/martprd/stor...2&tm=undefined

JVC AV28T5SK at £279 is pretty good.

Comet are good too beacuse they have loads of tvs so you can look at loads of models then chuck the manufacturers number in to dealtime or kellkoo for the best price.

any of the Panasonics, Philips at£259 look good but the JVC at £279 is the one I'd go for.

I have the Sony and have had no problems with it. When we bought it ~ 1 year ago, at the price (£500 then) they were all fairly similar in quality (build and picture). I would have gone for the Toshiba (___44?) which was slightly cheaper but the wife made us buy the Sony as she thought it looked nicer...

The Sony KV28HX15 is 299.99 from online comet with free basic delivery.

I've always considered philips, panasonic and sony to be the best for pq on tellys. jvc have apparantly caught up.

I've got a 28" Samsung widescreen, with stand it was a little over £300 at easter from commet, but the price has come down now IIRC. 100Hz, Pure flat (the one where its all flat, i'm pretty sure its pure) and a good built in freeview system. The picutres not perfect, and seems a little grainy from low quality imputs, but other than that its brilliant, DVD's freeview have a perfect pciture.

agreed - is a very good TV for the price, well worth considering.

    I'd vote JVC or Panasonic.

    Panasonic
Got a 7 year old 29" Panasonic TV in the lounge. Controls 7 speakers, 1 sub, Sky, DVD and VCR No problems. Stands up to everything from dad watching crap films to me blasting Guns n Roses from the DVD Player

    JVC
TVs I ain't familiar with, but 3 Hi-Fis into them I can't fault any of them. Speakers that could knock walls down (and there some damn small), Built well and Stylish.

All the TV's used to cost say £50 more, comet decided to knock the price of the stand of the cost of the TV, if you want one, you can spend the money, if you dont want one, you save money. It's fair enough really
