    Guinness Extra Cold

A friend just asked me on MSN why they sell this in pubs, but you can never find it in supermarkets.

they probably store it in fridges and pipe it out, or maybe they have a deal with the pubs to only sell it to them.
your computer is similar to a fridge in that if it cannot keep a beer cold then it sucks

It comes out of the same barrel its just that the pump for extra cold has a chiller built into it.

i thought they just used higher pressure nitrogen to cool teh feed? either way, most pubs serve old barrells through dirty pipes. i won't touch it in most pubs, but my local always gets it right, and tastes pretty damn good regardless of where it's from.

only time you want to be drinking extra cold s if you think you might get a bit of a duff pint, then the chill dulls a lot of the flavour, other wise it is original all the way.

a lot of bar staff seem to be a little surprised when i ask for original instead, i guess they don't sell as much of that these days.

The Guiness you get in the pub out of the tap is a relatively recent recipe believe it or not.. the Guinness "Original" is how it was made back in 1750 when it all started out, before fancy beer engines and pumps were produced that give "modern" Guinness it's distinctive creaminess...

i like what id call normal guinness which is creamy and very filling because of its thick texture
Guinness original is nice, only tried it the other night - was abit of a shock at first when i tried it because i wasnt expecting it! deffinetly a new favorite of mine
