Just don't worry about it, it happens to us all.. I take a beta-blocker before things like job interviews, it helps, although me thinking it helps is probably why...

I used to get nervous with exams and stuff, but then I simply thought "it doesn't really matter". If I got that mind set into my head and stuck with it, then I realised that as long as I tried my best, then it doesn't matter at all. If you try you best and win, then YAY!

If you try your best and lose, then it's not the end of the world. You tried your best, and didn't get very far, but there's nothing you can do about it because what's done is done.

Just let life pass you by, and make sure you enjoy it along the way and you'll be fine .

i used to get so scared going up on stage a playing (in a band) it was pretty bad tbh, but now ive gotten so used to it its easy!
and asoon as you find its easy and you start to loose your nerves, then your confidence also goes up and then you become much better at what you do!
and its just an endluss spiral upwards after that !! wooooo

you could always try imagining that your customers are only dressed in their underwear, might help a little, used to work for me doing presentations at college (many years ago now).

Nerves have never been a big issue for me personally, i can imagine it can be horrible though. in one sales job i did when i was much younger i did get a little nevous sometimes (like when trying to close a big sale when the pressure was really on). I got over it i just made jokes and taking the micky out of the people in my head, or mentally undressed the girls (never got out of that habit mind). Not PC, but harmless and works.

How old are you by the way? I'm guessing you are fairly young still and i can assure you it gets better with time. Don't give up though, or you will be twice as nervous in your next job. You really have to face nevous head on or they will get the better of you. Ans when you do you will feel far more confident. Also, don't think people are thinking you are stupid because nevousness can very easily turn into paranoia. Some people may be arogant, but they are like that with everyone. Lots of people are nevous at times mate, don't feel like its just you.

I work at maccas, and on my first shift they had me doing a friday night on front counter, start of the holidays...

I think i managed to stuff up 3 orders and other awful things like that, but I just told the people I was new and they helped me out a bit

And now when im having a bad day, I just go to the customers, "not having a good day today" and sigh, they laugh and say, "dont worry, it happens to us all"

SO as has been said, you just have to talk to the customers a bit, they will understand, and hopefully help you out a tad, Good luck

I hate nerves/shyness. I went to an IT lecture thing (with EvilWeevil), cause of my age I had previously had to get clearance and ask reception to call the people to confirm I was there e.t.c. I was shaking and couldn't remember what we were there for! Unless that was coffee withdrawl, I had been on the road for three and a half hours.

Yes - it's the same with me when I started in a band. I used to get quite shakey before playing, but now it just seem natural. Exactly the same with being on a checkout. After a week of doing it, it'll feel natural. You just get used to it
