Was reading this a few minutes ago.

Quite scary, I think it will hit Britain sooner or later, but I don't think it will spread like wildfire when it get's here, I think it will be kept under control.

yer i hope that but i think that when it hits britian we will have vacsinations or something to keep it under controle because it will only be like the sars virus and that didnt hit us and they predicted a epodemic on that. so it may not even come here but will probable travel on holiday people from efected areas.

bird flu at the moment is pretty hard to get as humans - it requires direct phyical contact with contaminated birds as human to human contact is impossible (basically unless you are a lonely farmer with some attractive chickens you are fine )

the danger is if it mutates into something else - for example a human catches bird flu and has normal flu as well, they might combine into a deadly airborne carried flu

Spanish flu, in 1918, came about in a similar manner (I think) and that killed more people than world war one. Scary thing is for some reason the 1918 outbreak killed mostly young fit people. At least flu pandemics kill off the elderly and the weak

If this happens then we're in trouble. Creating a vaccine takes a long time, and there would be a large number of casualties in the 'first wave' of carriers.

Bascially we could be fine or we could be up the proverbial creek

Anyway as I rely on public transport to get to work Im probably first in line to catch it so I'll keep you all informed (by coughing on you )

Yeh....and look at what Foot and Mouth did...what a shambles that was eh? Well, if this country still has the power to close boarders, then I can't any reason why we shouldn't. Certainly keep more than just contaminated imigrants out (oh wait...no it won't ).

Hah, more Government-wide scaremongering, I'm not afraid of any flu, bird or human...

Fear means power and power is control and it is control what the government craves...

The only thing the government craves is not to look like complete failures every four years....conspiracy theories give politicians too much credit. If they were clever enough to succesfully social engineer the populations, they'd all be working for the private sector earning millions....

Maybe they do, maybe the government is secretly run by organisations, well no, but in America where its to my understanding that fear is a tool commonly used as a method for selling things or making people do things or to just generally control the masses (perhaps Mr. Oralpain can enlighten me )...

Just seems like the government IS trying to incite hysteria as much as they may deny or say how much they care "Oooh lets only order enough medicine for only a small portion of the the entire population of country...

Fair enough the UK has ordered the largest amount of the medication and the only people likely to get the flu are the very young and the elderly...

I'm just saying, I don't think many people will come to any harm from this "bird flu" nonsense... which may just be the standard flu rebadged and repackaged <dons flame retardant suit and mask>

Well I have been listening to System of a Down a lot recently.

    DOWN WITH THE SYSTEM!!
