    Anyone used/got one of these...

    Samsung A800

Looking at it when i go on contract, had a look in a couple of shops at it. I like:

    The flip open screen
    The size
    Its weight
    Vibrate alert
    Polyphonic ringtones
FREE on the contract i am after

I am not really very fussed over colour screens and camera's. Just wondered opions on this fone if any1 had used or seen one, very interested in how well Samsung phones write txt messages, can it be done quickly??

I have the A300 and it sucks big time. Not much good about it other than it looks nice.

I would recommend a nokia. Ease of use and packed with features. Stay away from 3510i's though.

I would rather hava an 8310 instead of a samsung a800.

    Tesla

/EDIT - My phone is pants for writing texts. It is really slow so cant keep up with me which makes the words all garbled. The predictive text is very poor and has a very limited vocabulary. Even some common words it cannot understand. And unlike nokia phones you cannot expand the dictionary on an a300. (may differ on a800) Also i can only stor 10 text messages. I know that the a800 can store 200 or something ridiculous like that though.

I agree with Tesla, I've been doing some development work on modern handsets, I've had a demo of the samsung for 6 weeks, and quite frankly it sucked.

Best new current phone available at the moment from my experience of all of Orange Uk's handsets is the nokia 6100. Best quality screen, great updated menus and much better on daily use. Top quality feel and build quality yet small and light enough to take anywhere.

    Thanks

Sos, i forgot to mention this, i wanted to steer well away from Nokia's this time, fancied a change I have owned a 3210 and 3410, i just want something new (to me) and different. I really wanted flip-open. Another alternative would be the t100.

I know that the a800 can store 200 or something ridiculous like that though.
That looks interesting, i am so used to being stuck with nokia and their tiny, pathetic amount of storage space.

don't get the t100, tis a terrible phone. You'll like it for the first month or so then realise the signal is REALLY bad and the phone is quite featureless.

How dyu mena nokia/lack of storage space. Every nokia I've ever owned can hold at least 150 messages.

There's always teh SE T610, well liked across the board i believe, certainly looking into. IMO its worth spending that little extra as the chances are your going to have to use the phone for a while, so best to steer clear of gimciky phones

Tom, Pete C - our mate has got one, so has Pam. I had a play on one the other day and I have to say that the buttons are really dinky.

However, it is a very good phone with some good games, basically a non colour version of mine.

I think the phone will be able to hold 150 messages, same as mine

I will try and dig out some deals for ya old fella!

I know a couple of guys who're using the A800 and have used the A300 before. They're saying that the A800 is a lot better than the A300 - better construction, smaller (of course) and lighter (of course)... but the buttons are harder to use... May be the phones are new and the buttons are a little stiff...

The very fact that I'm still using the Nokia 6150 (over 2 years old) shows you how unimpressed I'm with current range of mobile phones available...

Hmm my mates got that one and it seems ok apart from poor battery life and really pathetically crap cheesy ringtones (they may be polyphonic, but then so is a £25 yamaha keyboard and it sounds exactly like the cheesy demo songs on one of them)

I HATE cheezy ring tones... Mine is always a straight forward long ring tone.

Anyone know if SE sorted the menu speed/system lag out with the 610? the 68/i/300 is terrible for that..
