Im getting swamped by sales calls.

I had around 3-5 calls in the last hour, and they just keep coming. Nothing like this before.

Is there anything I can do to stop em? I have the BT call up display, anything else?

I really should stop with the freebies online!

    Thanks.

Yep, TPS is the only way to go matey. The only other thing that works ( if they don't falsify a CLI on their Call Centre System ) is Anonymous call rejection which tells callers to redial without withholding their number.

It might take a month or so for the tps stuff to start working though, but if you're being bothered by uk callers they'll soon stop. It's the international callcentres and voip based sales guys you can't do much about.

I got a couple of cold calls on my mobile, signed up to the TPS and it stopped after about 15 days - not had one since.

There is another less-often publicised service from BT. It's called "Choose To Refuse". It costs £8 per quarter or thereabouts. It's better than ACR (Anonymous Caller Rejection) since it allows you to choose which phone numbers you will not accept - even if they are witheld.

You can maintain a rolling list of barred callers. If someone rings you up and witholds their number your simply dial 14258 and press the '*' key twice to block them.

Of course, if the call shows up as 'International' then there's nothing you can do to block it.

It would probably get old quite quickly, but why not have some fun winding them up before you block them, or put them on hold a la scott mills

Haha, reverse prank call. I might try that next time an international number (ie cold call I can't block) rings up.

If you get their details and request that they don't call again.. and they do, i think there's a way to get the company fined or.. get their details and use a trick i saw on a post here - fax them complaint letters (white text, black background) until they stop

TPS seemed to work pretty quickly with my landline, only took a few days and the sales calls stopped completely.

Been registered with TPS for years. it did cut the number of calls but some companies seem to ignore it. I had one call yesterday and told them I was on TPS and they promptly hung up. They had withheld their number too so I couldn't get back to them. i've now gone for ACR at £1.50/month and it'll be worth it

I always play the idiot with crank callers. Its amazing how wound up they'll actually get. Nothing better than giving someone a darn bad mood for the rest of the day
