    phone insurance...whats the flippin' point?

my phone died on saturday. have insurance(yay!) so I call orange and to get a replacement...that'll be £15 please.

erm. eh? my phone dies and you charge me £15? for something totally out of my control...

wtf is the point of having insurance? I swear these phone companies make too much money on us.

when one of my mates got hilariously tackled down to the ground by a girl he fell and cracked the screen on his phone. He didnt have any insurance but he claimed it on his house insurance and didnt pay a thing IIRC and he got a replacement which had been untouched by Vodafone so it had a few more features.
maybe thats the way to go?

"Mr Insurance man i fell down the stairs and broke my phone can i have a new one please?"

I have a very restrictive Phone insurance policy that covers me for theft only - not accidental damage or anything like that.

I tell you... these insurances are tighter than a ducks rectum when you read the small print correctly.

O2 here and havent had a single problem with them their online contract tariffs are also very good , I wouldnt change over to any other networks. The thing that annoys me is when service providers put their marks on your phone. Orange tend to set the menu's up slightly differnt and use differnt Icons things like that annoy me - i just like to have the phone the way it was meant to be.

shiato storm how did your phone break again??

I agree. When I used to be on orange, I had a few dodgy 3210's where the speaker failed after a few weeks.

A quick ring to orange insurance and a new one was dispatched for delivery to my old place of work. Great service, it's a shame I cancelled my 'everyday 50' contract

You think that's bad? I've had £5 a month extra on my contract for insurance, but when my phone died, they gave me a replacement handset, but not a new battery. Guess what, it was the battery that had died. Is that covered by the insurance? Nope, £40 please. And they sounded so shocked when I told them I no longer wanted the contract

Think about how much you would have paid if you did not have insurance.

I also have the k750i - have you tried flashing it? if its a software problem this may be your solution.

If its within a year of getting the phone take it back to the store and ask for repair/replacement. I'm with vodafone and when the charging connection of the phone broke I took it to the Manchester branch who wanted ££££s then I took it to Bury branch who sent it off for repair for FREE!
More repairs later and finally a replacement given with a brand new 12 month guarantee all for the price of £000.00p!!!!!!!!!
    Woohoo now Assistant Manager!

    Not a lot more...

Lets say your phone 'breaks' on the 11th month of your contract. Insurance is £10 a month, that's £60 + £40 excess (in someones case here for a new battery) £100 total.

I think insurance mainly covers any unwanted calls made if your phone gets stolen, but to be honest, I would absolutely refuse to pay them anyway if they tried to charge me for such calls.
