Dumpster Diving Opportunity - Anyone know of a website dedicated to this?

    Hi guys,

My Office has just filled a skip, and I'm sure there's about £300 of fleabay potential in there, including 2 or 3 working 19" CRT's (flat fronts too).

Does anyone know of a website or forum dedicated to this where I could post it up? the hippy in me would rather see it get reused than trashed.

I've already rescued six 19" monitors and a couple of processors, but I couldn't get any more in my car, but it's still criminal if half this stuff just gets thrown away. Several P1s and P2s, No hard disks, and most of the memory's been removed, but everything else just went in the skip.

The secret location is here Smack in the middle of London. Sidestreet between Emerald street and Lamb's Conduit Street, just behind Holborn cop shop. Come one come all and help thyselves.
They told me I was gullible ... and I believed them.

A lot of places chuck this stuff out without resale because of the hassle involved with electrical safety. It does seam a waste, but it makes sence to them. Having said that, every time it happens and I know about it the skip tends to be an estate with 4 wheels and an engeine

It's less cost for them to bin it, than for them to face public liability.

Anyway, I suggest selling anything dumped on as parts.

hehe, love to - dumpster diving is a hobby of mine that I've neglected in the past few years - just haven't had the need.

Why not hijack this thread with your best find!

Mine was a 640x480 LCD OHP projector... Had loads of use out of it - it was fleabaying for £800 when I found it

Have done a bit of that myslef. Picked up a rather unusal 19" CRT once, it was a pivot model so could be landscape or portrait. Lovelly engineering, weighed a ton. Have just donated it to a new home so still in use. Think it originally retailed for £1000
